Apple- once known for its Mac books and now better for its small gadgets like the iPod, iPhone and iPad- made a great update by launching the latest version of its operating system, the Lion X OS this July. The recent operating system has completely overshadowed Apple’s recent launch of MacBooks.
Instead of getting the new OS through traditional distribution channels, the company has made the Lion X OS available directly to customers through download from the Apple’s Apps Store. This is now the only way customers can get the OS, leaving retailers and vendors to wonder how they’ll be able to share in the sales.
Priced at $29.99, more than one million copies of the 3.74 GB Lion were downloaded within the first day of the launch. One day later, Apple announced that it would make the Lion available on a USB stick, but at a higher price of $55.
With the success of Apple’s small gadgets like iPhones and iPads, the company has developed a substantial base of users who also demand touch capabilities on their laptops and desktops. Thus Lion X OS has been designed with multi touch gestures enabling a greater user experience to do just that.
The Lion X OS is loaded with over 250 new features including mission control, which tells the user what programs are currently running, full screen apps that use every inch of the display, launchpad which gives users instant access to all the Mac apps, as well as many other features like Versions, Airdrop and Sandbox.
The Lion X OS is indeed the most advanced OS. With so many new features and exclusive usability, it is now wonder many consider it to be miles ahead of Windows.
