World economic forum releases IT report: India important future player

On Tuesday, the World Economic Forum published its 10th report on Global Information Technology. The main result of the report shows that industrialized nations are ahead when it comes to utilizing communication and information technologies. Nevertheless, China and India s two vastly developing nations are catching up at an aspiring speed. This blog entry elaborates on the results of the 10th report on Global Information Technology.
138 countries are part of investigation and represented in the report. Sweden leads the world in regard to IT and communication infrastructure. Already the second time in a row, Sweden is at the top when it comes to IT and communication connectivity.
Other industrialized countries such as Canada, Denmark and Norway are also leading the list as they utilize the internet to its full potential for overall business success. Nowadays, in the so-called “information-age”, ICT is one main indicator and driving factor of a nation’s general economic growth and welfare.
The Head of Information Technology and Telecommunications, Alan Marcus, highlights: “Countries fully integrating new technologies and leveraging the new data revolution in their development and growth strategies are laying the foundations for competitive, resilient economies for the future.”
Although India ranks 48th place in the 2011 report, experts estimate a vast growth of the ICT infrastructure in the Asian country already in the upcoming years. The ranking results of the report a based on 71 social and economic indicators such as patents or mobile phone subscriptions
