To Team or Not to Team: That is the Question (Part I of II)

Deciding whether or not to use the services of an offshore dedicated team can be an overwhelming dilemma. Keeping a few tips in mind will hopefully give your decision-making process a little perspective and make you a little less likely to pull out your hair. Here we’ll take a look at Part One of a two-part series: 3 reasons why you should NOT use offshore dedicated teams.

1. Interested only in the cost-saving benefits
Cost is an important factor and one that should be taken into consideration as a keen advantage. However, if it is the only consideration then you’re setting yourself up for dashed hopes. Working with any offshore partner requires a certain amount of set-up cost and potential visits overseas. India is a beautiful place but ticket prices and transit hours, as you may have noticed, are not exactly a “hop, skip and a jump” away. IT Staffing Services does help keep costs down in the long run, but set-up and maintenance fees may not be worth it considering the other implications of working with an offshore dedicated teams.
2. No time to invest in relationships
They say it’s not about what but rather who you know that makes all the difference. Relationships, community, trust: these are requirements that make any business partnership successful, and outsourcing is no exception. Merely shipping off a list of requirements to an email address and waiting for a final product is not a way to work effectively. In order to truly collaborate and reach an end result everyone is proud of requires one to invest in relationships with overseas partners. This takes time. No one is going to just wave their magic wand and finish the project before you can say “Abracadabra.” Communicating and collaborating with the team is the only way to make the magic happen. That is unless you can find yourself a fairy godmother.
3. Unwilling to take a step back
Offshore partnerships take a lot of patience. Time zone differences, miscommunications and cultural differences/expectations require deep breaths to overcome, if not a guru to guide you in Pranayama. It wouldn’t be the first time teams have engaged in miscommunication, leading to delayed results and aggravated customers- that stands true for any workplace, anywhere in the world. Utilizing IT staffing services is not your run of the mill business encounter. Issues will arise that you may have never thought possible and may leave you wondering why you even considered it in the first place. If you’re unwilling to take a step back and keep the big picture in check (or, again, look into some yoga breathing techniques) IT staffing services will be a tough sell.
These are 3 reasons why you should NOT use offshore dedicated teams. Keep these in check when considering the aid of IT Staffing Services. In the next post, we’ll look at the 3 reasons why you SHOULD use offshore dedicated teams.
