iPhone 5 and iPhone Application Development: Don’t believe the Hype?
Posted by: Katharina Buchholz in News on Jun 22, 2011
After Apple previewed iOS 5 earlier this month, rumours about the new iPhone 5 are on heavy circulation. New Apple products are traditionally shielded from the public like forbidden fruit – causing the online community to resort to the crystal ball-type of speculations. Will the iPhone 5 change everything. again. once more, and what is the latest craze in iPhone application development? See some of the least believable below:
1) The new iPhone will have a 3D camera
Yes, 3D technology might be having an unexpected comeback and some smartphones are already marketed using the technology. But has anyone ever heard of them? No. 3D, no matter how many times it is recycled, has always had a bit of a novelty factor. Think IMAX movies about pirates and goofy goggles. Apple products, on the other hand, are not family technology, but something people get instead of kids. 3D iPhone- we think not.
2) The iPhone 5 will be released on September 7th.
Ok, hold the Harold Camping-style predictions. There are certain indications that the iPhone 5 will not be released before the fall – allegedly Apple hasn’t ordered the parts yet and a Middle Eastern telecommunication carrier told the press that the eagerly awaited device would be coming out later this year. Still, pinning down the exact date, however scrupulous the calculations are, is the equivalent of a self-unfulfilling proficiency. Apple likes to stay unpredictable – you screwed your prediction up the minute it went live.
3) The iPhone 5 will have a standardized charging outlet
Because of a new regulation now implemented, all phones sold in the EU have to support standard phone chargers – a decision based on consumer interest and environmental factors. Still, it has been clear since last year that Apple will be allowed to issue its European customers special adapter looking something like this, so that now extra outlets mess up the iPhone’s pretty, pretty exterior.
4) No one will care about the iPhone 5
This is by far the most obscene of all of them. This online rumour machine that just won’t stop going proves exactly the opposite, and blog post about everything iPhone are by far the most popular. This is why I am writing another one anyways.
The craziest thing to come out of iPhone application development is definitely the augmented reality craze. These apps complement what you can see through your iPhone’s camera with additional information. Right now, you can identify star constellations or find shops in your surroundings, but soon it will make your newspaper talk and make you put one these silly goggles after all. If you believe the online trolls. Do you?
