To Team or Not to Team: That is the Question (Part II of II) [edit]
Posted by: in Outsourcing on Dec 16, 2011
Have you been scratching your head wondering why on earth you should use dedicated teams? If this is the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night, never fear. Here is our second (and final, for now) installation on working with offshore teams. Click here to revisit blog history and check out the first post. Without further ado, here are 3 reasons why you SHOULD use offshore dedicated teams:
1. 1. The power of choice
With the population growth overseas expanding more quickly than that in the West, there are just more candidates from which to choose. The aging baby boomer population in the U.S. compared to the growing population rates in India make for a pool of talent that is deep and wide enough for even Olympic-sized needs. India produces about twice as many IT professionals annually as the U.S., giving businesses looking to outsource a plethora of options. Quantity abounds when it comes to choosing staffing solutions in India.
2. 2. The power of numbers
Not only is there a vast quantity of people, but the quality of developers and programmers is ever-increasing. In this day and age, a worker’s country of origin no longer matters but rather their ability to do the work and do it well. It’s not where you’re from but what you know (and how well you do it), in this case. Companies look to coordinate with an offshore team because of the caliber of their work, regardless of their location.
3. 3. The power of joining the 21st century
“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” is what many may have said about the growth and popularity of utilizing staffing solutions in India. Is it just a passing fad? Do we just need to get this idea “out of our system” and go back to the tried and true way of doing business? Sorry, my obstinate friends, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Businesses the world over are turning to offshore teams as a way to efficiently control their work flow and produce more for less. Outsourcing is here to stay and in a big way.
In sum, there are a lot of IT professionals and there are good IT professionals and there are a lot of good IT professionals now. These are only three reasons why you should use an offshore team for your next software development project. There are more, of course, but these are at least a good way to get started. They’re probably more effective arguments than telling your boss you need to exercise your time-share options on the Indian subcontinent as an excuse to visit the country. Good luck with that one.
