Most people dread taking a trip down to their local authorities, no matter whether they need to renew their passport, file for social security or pay that parking ticket. Waiting in line for possibly hours and filling out stacks of paperwork puts most people off. Wouldn’t life be a lot easier if you could do most of these things online? Most definitely! But more importantly e-government can do more than just saving trees and your nerves, it can also change governments for the better.

By the looks of it, social media is not satisfied taking over our private lives, now it is entering ERP services as well. As SAP announced, it is now in co-operation with Jive SBS, a new social media ERP tool helping each and everyone and each and everything in your company stay connected. If employees are wasting time on Facebook anyways, why not give them a company internal social media platform to play with AND be productive at the same time? So far, no objections.

TCS has announced that it is planning to hire 60,000 staff in the upcoming fiscal year – just 10,000 down from 2010/11’s 70,000 new additions. Meanwhile, rivals Infosys and Wipro are also said to be on a hiring spree, rubbishing rumours that Indian offshore software development is unable to move forward in a changing market situation.

Right after Drupal 7 was released in the beginning of the year, the talk started about what Drupal 8 should look like. One of the changes many Drupal developers would like to see is dubbed ‘smallcore’, a slimmer and smaller out-of-the-box experience of the Drupal framework. But it seems like smallcore advocates have opened up a can of worms, or much rather, a box of LEGO bricks.
